The company specialized in the development and implementation of renewable energy projects CCE Holding starts the construction of its first photovoltaic park in Romania, located in the north-west of the country. The 40 MWp Horia1 photovoltaic power plant will be connected to the Romanian electricity grid by autumn 2024, a company statement said.

The plant is built on 50 hectares and includes 68,302 high-performance photovoltaic modules, each with an output of 590 Wp, which will produce green electricity for almost 25,000 households in the future.

The Horia1 photovoltaic park project was developed together with the Banat Agri Group and the international Frapag group based in Austria. CCE Holding resulted from the joint venture of the two PV specialists Clean Capital Energy from Austria and enernovum from Germany, together with (Pension Fund) Azteversorgung Thuringen. The company, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, focuses on the construction, financing and management of large ground-mounted PV parks as well as PV installations placed on the roofs of large commercial buildings.

CCE’s Horia1 project was successful in the first round of projects funded by the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Programme (NRRP) and can now expect total funding of almost 3 million euros, the company’s press release points out.

245 projects with installed capacities of more than 1 MW applied for funding through the NRRP. 27 projects were contracted and 75 were in the pre-contracting stage. Four projects were under evaluation out of the 106 that were within budget. A further 61 projects were still under evaluation, over budget, and 78 were rejected.

Currently, CCE already holds project rights for a total nominal capacity of 980 MW in Romania. In total, ten photovoltaic power plant projects are in various stages of development.
