The Chamber of Deputies adopted on Wednesday the Emergency Ordinance no. 26/2018 through which the Hunedoara Energy Complex will provide system services at a power of 400 MW until 2020.
According to Agerpres, the normative act introduces the following measures: the obligation of the Hunedoara Energy Company SA to provide technological system services to the Transmission System Operator at an electric power value of at least 400 MW under the conditions of the regulations issued by the National Regulatory Authority for Energy, in order to maintain the level of safety of the National Electricity System.
At the same time, the adopted normative act stipulates that Transelectrica will establish monthly the necessary capacity of these services.
According to the Government, the Emergency Ordinance is necessary to ensure the stability of the National Electricity System (NPS) and the safety of the energy supply of the population and industrial consumers.
“The Hunedoara Power Complex SA is one of the utility companies in the portfolio of the Ministry of Energy and one of the electricity generators which, with an installed capacity of 1,225 MW, provides about 5% of the total national electricity production, the largest electricity producer in the North-Western part of Romania. The need to ensure the security of electricity supply based on coal from the Jiu Valley and other sources in the country, and also the need for increased adequacy of the National Electricity System resulted from the study carried out by the transport and system operator CNTEE Transelectrica SA – “Operational Planning of NES in the Winter of 2016-2017”, the Government stipulates.
