Last week 48 important leaders from the local and international business environment, as well as representatives of well-known non-governmental organizations, gathered, at the invitation of ENGIE Romania and Habitat for Humanity, for an extensive volunteering action with the objective the completion of the interior finishing works that are nearing the end of the construction of four homes, which will be handed over to the beneficiary families in the village of Moara Nouă, in Prahova county.
This construction site, managed by Habitat for Humanity Romania, is part of an extensive project, at the end of which, 12 beneficiary families will live in the houses built. These families are made up of 45 members and were selected by the partners from Habitat for Humanity Romania, in collaboration with the local authorities. The new homes will provide the beneficiaries with a comfortable home, significantly improving their quality of life.
“I can think of at least three reasons why ENGIE Romania supported this social project. The first is to support the cause of Habitat for Humanity Romania, traditional partners, with whom we have developed energy efficiency projects that have brought important changes to our communities. The second reason is that only together, through involvement and collaboration, can we achieve extraordinary things. And last but not least, I strongly believe that volunteer days like this remind us how important it is to invest in communities and take care of our neighbors. It was, of course, my privilege to spend a working day with partners, clients, colleagues and opinion leaders,” said Nicolas Richard, CEO of ENGIE Romania.
“The participation of business and civil society leaders in CEO Build is a clear proof of our shared commitment to vulnerable communities in Romania. We are determined to create positive changes and offer hope in the lives of those who need decent housing. CEO Build is not not just a building event, but a manifestation of solidarity. We are proud to see business and civil society leaders come together to make a real difference in this regard, and ENGIE is among the partners with whom we have always developed extraordinary projects, such as the from Moara Nouă. Our efforts will continue to contribute to a sustainable change in vulnerable communities in Romania,” added Roberto Pătrășcoiu, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Romania.
