CEZ continued to support the development of the local community through projects with real and consistent impact, in the medium and long term. Three of the projects carried out in 2021 were awarded with gold at the Community Index competition – the most complex annual ranking of investment projects in communities in Romania. Thus, the Apprentice Electrician project ticks off the gold distinction for the third consecutive time, and the first edition of the Energy Shelter project – carried out within the Social Watt and Green Challenge program was recognized in the category of best practices (Best Practices in Community Investment).
From the more than 800 projects submitted, the jury decided that the CEZ projects contributed to the development of sustainable cities (the Energy Shelter project, developed within the Social Watt program), generated climate change (Green Challenge – Green Energy at the Alexandria Children’s Palace) and supported career education (Apprentice Electrician).
“We remain #PeopleofAction (#OameniiFaptelor), responsible for the community we are part of. We are happy that the ongoing projects have put another brick in the development of the local community and really contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development. The fact that we have awarded projects, in the first edition, confirms to us that we are very anchored in the communities in which we operate and forces us to continue this construction together,” said Angelica Barbu, director, People and Brand Division.
In 2021, CEZ was for the second consecutive time on the podium of the competition in the following categories:
- Emergency Relief COVID-19 – with the project CEZ feeds its energy network for good;
- Sustainable cities – for the installation of photovoltaic panels at 9 high schools that prepare the #FutureGeneration (#GenerațiaViitorului), among which 7 carry out the Apprentice Electrician project;
- Art, Culture and Traditions – for the Cule in Light project;
- Education: Technology in schools – for the Green Promise campaign.
In 2020, CEZ competed for the first time and obtained distinctions in the following categories:
- Art, Culture and Traditions – for the Cule in Light project;
- Active Living – for the Oltenia Marathon sports competition;
- Education for Career – for the Apprentice Electrician program.
