Over 3 billion lei will be allocated by the National Railway Company “CFR” SA for the acquisition of design and execution services for modernization works on the railroad sections Cluj – Aghireş (lot 1) and Aghireş – Poieni (lot 2), according to a press release of the national railway operator.
The bid launched by CFR S.A. is related to the objective “Electrification and rehabilitation of the railway line Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Episcopia Bihor”, in order to increase the traffic speed to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains.
According to the quoted source, the total estimated financial value of the contracts is of 2.978 billion lei (excluding VAT), of which 1.505 billion lei (excluding VAT), for lot 1 Cluj – Aghireş, respectively 1.473 billion lei (excluding VAT), for lot 2 section Aghireş – Poieni, according to Agerpres.
The source of financing is provided by External Non-Reimbursable Funds, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), component 4 – Sustainable transport – Reform 1.5 – Development of railway infrastructure and management of railway traffic.
The general objective of the two service contracts is to electrify and rehabilitate the railway line Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Episcopia Bihor – Border (166.2 km) to increase the number of passengers and the volume of goods transported.
The duration of the project implementation is of 102 months for each contract, as follows: six months for the design, 36 months for the execution of the works, 60 months for the guarantee period of the objective.
