China welcomed the European Union’s decision to not extend anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures on imports of Chinese solar panels as they expire on Sep. 3, after they had been in force for about five years, EFE reports.
The Chinese trade ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the decision to remove the measures that had been in place for almost five years would restore the trade of solar panels between China and the EU in line with normal market conditions and create a more stable and predictable business environment.
According to the Xinhua State Agency, China sees the move as a success in resolving trade friction through consultations, adding that the Asian giant wants to further cooperate with the European Union to boost global trade and a multilateral rule-based trade system.
The EU Commission imposed restrictive measures in December 2013 after months of investigations which confirmed that Chinese companies had been selling solar panels in Europe well below the normal market price and they had been receiving illegal subsidies from the Chinese authorities.
