The modernization of the national gas transport system cannot be achieved without a detailed inventory of all the elements that make up the current system, says Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association. He estimates that in order to bring the Romanian transport system to the level of European requirements, an amount of over 4 billion euro is needed.
“After completing this inventory, which can clearly establish the physical wear or even the real value of the goods, one can go on to analyze the value of the budget necessary to create a new National Gas Transmission System”, said Chisăliță, in an interview presented on the site the association.
“I appreciate that in order to bring the Romanian transport system to the level of European transport requirements, an amount of over 4 billion euro is required. The annual distribution of this amount is based on the possibility of accessing the financing, and it is certain that any delay causes an increase in Romania’s energy vulnerability (in terms of quantity and price evolution),” he said.
“The minimum amount required for the investment budget for the modernization of the NTS and its operational alignment with the standards of the neighboring countries (Bulgaria-Serbia-Hungary-Ukraine-Moldova) is at least equal to the value presented in the National Development Plan 2019-2028 recently approved by ANRE on 11.12.2019, i.e. 4 billion euro.”
