The new “REPowerEu” plan, worth a total of 1.4 billion euro, which the Government will send to the European Commission by the end of August, will be focused on programs dedicated directly to Romanians, with 600 million euro to be allocated for purchases of solar panels and batteries for energy storage, and another 500 million euro for the energy efficiency of homes, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Thursday.
“1.1 billion euros for Romanians for photovoltaic panels and the energy efficiency of homes! The new REPowerEu plan, worth a total of 1.4 billion euros, which we will send to the European Commission by the end of August, will be focused on programs dedicated directly to Romanians! Concretely, there will be over 600 million euros for the purchase of solar panels and batteries for energy storage. Approximately 60 thousand households will be able to access this program, and the value of each grant will be approximately 10 thousands of euros cumulatively. In parallel, another 500 million euros will go to fit out housing in order to reduce energy consumption and implicitly bills by up to 30%. And a significant share of this money will be allocated targeted to the vulnerable population and those from the countryside,” Ciolacu wrote on Facebook.
The Prime Minister expressed his conviction that the Minister of European Investments and Projects will obtain the approval of the plan undertaken by Romania in Brussels.
“This means making a plan that takes into account people’s needs and not personal or group interests as happened in the past when this plan was rejected by the Commission! And I trust that the Minister of European Funds will get in Brussels what is needed for Romanians and for Romania,” Ciolacu said.
