CIS GROUP, one of the most important players in the Romanian natural gas industry, is expanding its activity in the Republic of Moldova through subsidiary CIS GAZ TRADING, following obtaining the license to supply natural gas and electricity from the National Agency for Energy Regulation.
In 2021, the CIS company holding celebrates 30 years since its establishment and it plans to reach 25% of its business in international export and trading activities as of 2022. Last year, the total aggregate turnover of the group’s companies was 40 million euros.
“We are glad to be able to strengthen our position on the market in the Republic of Moldova, where we have been present since last year through the construction-fitting pipes division,” said Sebastian Călugăr, CEO of CIS GROUP. “Through the four major business divisions of the group we want to expand our activity on the regional energy market, both in the Republic of Moldova and in Bulgaria, Serbia or Greece, where we have already signed the first partnership contracts”, he added.
In the last three years, the CIS GAS subsidiary, part of the CIS GROUP, has carried out some of the most important strategic projects in the company’s history, which are included in the ‘Plan for the Development of the national natural gas transport System 2020-2029’, With SNTGN Transgaz SA and Vestmoldtransgaz the Republic of Moldova as beneficiary. At the end of last year, CIS GAZ was appointed by ANRE as the last resort supplier of natural gas in Romania.
Projects include the extension of the interconnection of the Iași-Ungheni-Chisinau (phase II, lot I and lot II) for the supply of natural gas to the Republic of Moldova and the increase of transport capacity, In the perspective provided by more than 80% of the works currently carried out for the gas transport pipeline DN700 Onesti-Gheraesti-Letcani (lot I and lot II).
For 2021, the CIS GROUP plans include the development of the project portfolio in the CEE region, in particular in the gas trading area, the construction of pipelines and natural gas installations, and the further development of the portfolio of business and household customers for the supply of natural gas and electricity in the region.
CIS GAZ is a Romanian company with 100% private capital having a 30-year of experience in the local market. The company operates through the four major divisions – gas supply, pipeline construction, maintenance, pipeline integrity and equipment supply for the natural gas and crude oil industry.
The company is currently carrying out a business restructuring and modernization plan with the aim of a new holding structure: CIS GROUP. The development of the group is based on already open business lines operated by Sebastian Călugăr as CEO of the future holding.
