Claudia Griech, general director of E.ON Energie Romania, claims that from December 2023 there is a blockage at the level of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) regarding the recognition of the amounts to be settled, which prevents suppliers from surviving, information also confirmed by the minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

“The validations should be done by ANRE, but they were not done. We are practically a year behind with the settlements. Two months ago, the payment was up to date, but the reference was December 2023. But from December 2023, there is a blockage at the level of ANRE that prevents suppliers from surviving,” said Griech, according to News.ro.

Referring to the new legislation that would enter into force starting from April next year, the General Director of E.ON Energie wanted to remind the fact that in the past there were more than 18 legislative changes on this topic.

“There was a legislative effervescence, and all this affects customers, who do not fully understand them. In fact, even we, who should explain them, do not fully understand them. It is also about implementation costs. Obviously, we are talking about a new system that we will find out in January in order to apply it from April and we will do everything in our power as responsible suppliers to do this. I would like to believe that there is a work option that does not involve the suppliers directly”, explained Griech. She expressed her belief that suppliers need financial health: “We are already in the third or fourth year in which this whole system is supported by suppliers through loans.”

“About two months ago, at the Ministry of Energy, but also at the Ministry of Labor, the payments to suppliers were up to date. We also work with ANRE, because I know that, since the beginning of the year, it is more difficult with the settlements, with the submission of requests, their validation by to ANRE. Until it is validated at the level of the Authority, we cannot make payments at the level of the two ministries. I am aware of this problem and we are working on it,” also said the Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja.
