Competition Council analyzes the transaction through which OMV Petrom SA outsources to J. Christof E&P Services and Christof Private Firefighting Services some general surface operations and services related to oil and gas extraction and production activities, together with the assets and employees that serve them, the authority announced.
Following a public procurement procedure, the consortium formed by J. Christof E&P Services and Christof Private Firefighting Services was designated as the highest ranked bidder for lot A (Oltenia Production Area) and lot B (Muntenia Vest Production Area and Moesia Production Area), to sign with OMV a framework agreement for the provision of surface and transport services, minor operation and maintenance services, fire and rescue services, field operation services, facility operation services, services operating in treatment facilities.
The procedure involves the sale of movable property, the rental of immovable property, and the transfer of employees to the consortium. At the end of the contract period (eight years from the date of signing by OMV Petrom and the consortium), some assets will be returned to OMV Petrom.
In accordance with the provisions of the Competition Law (no. 21/1996), this operation is an economic concentration that must be authorized by the Competition Council. The competition authority will assess this economic concentration in order to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the time limits provided by law.
