Competition Council analyzes the transaction through which Socar Petroleum S.A. intends to assume the right of use on six fuel distribution stations operated by Aral.
The 6 fuel distribution stations, located in Arad, Timiș and Sibiu counties, will be operated by Socar based on a 10-year lease, the institution announced.
Socar Petroleum, a company belonging to the Socar group, currently owns a network of 44 national gas stations. Socar Petroleum mainly operates on the fuel market, both in the retail and in the wholesale segment.
In accordance with the provisions of the Competition Law (no. 21/1996), this operation is an economic concentration that must be controlled by the Competition Council. The Competition Council will evaluate this transaction in order to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the terms provided by law.
