OECD and Competition Council experts will implement a project to analyze in detail all the legislation in three areas of interest in the Romanian economy, including that of utilities, to see if there are provisions that contravene with competition law, said to Agerpres Bogdan Chiriţoiu, President of the Competition Council.
“Together with experts from the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development – ed.) will analyze all legislation of three economic areas to sense any contrary provisions with the competition law”, said Chiriţoiu.
He says the project will take place for a year, and the three areas of interest will be drawn from areas such as: public procurement, transport, liberal professions, and utilities.
“I asked even the World Bank and the IMF to suggest the three areas. We want until September 30th to have the Government approved a memorandum on this project”, added President of the Competition Council.
He said that, in this fall, the Council seeks to amend the legislation on state aid, which must implement recent changes brought by the European Commission in this area.
“We will also create a register of all state aid in Romania to we have the ability to check the state aid, which we could not do before”, Bogdan Chiriţoiu said.
