The Competition Council analyzes the transaction by which IRI Investments, from the Ikea group, takes over some companies in Romania belonging to the Vestas Wind Systems group, according to a statement.
IRI Investments SRL is a holding company, owned by Ingka Investments B.V., The Netherlands, which belongs to the Ingka Group. The Ingka Group operates in Romania two business directions: the sale of furniture, lighting and household items and investments in the forestry sector, owning the Ikea stores, the Competition Authority has announced.
Vestas Group mainly operates in the wind energy industry, being one of the most important producers of wind turbines and related services globally. In Romania, the Vestas Group operates in the field of wind turbines supply and related services, through Vestas CEU Romania SRL, as well as in the field of energy production and sales (wind energy) through the seven companies to be taken over by IRI Investments SRL .
On September 13, the Swedish group Ingka, which owns most of the Ikea stores, announced that it has acquired from Vestas an 80% stake in seven wind farms in Romania, for 136 million euro (151 million dollars), according to Reuters and Agerpres.
