The first electric locomotive of the Conpet Ploieşti company was recently launched into operation at the Ramp Bărbăteşti in Gorj County, the company announced in a press release.
“The project to transform the LDH 1250 CP – 840 locomotive into an LEA (electric locomotive equipped with Plug-In batteries) started in 2019 and included, at Ramp Bărbăteşti, in addition to the vehicle repair and transformation works, the modernization of the installation to ensure the parameters of the current necessary for charging the batteries of the LEA locomotive, as well as the training of the personnel with responsibilities in traffic safety for the operation of this type of locomotive,” it is mentioned in the release, according to Agerpres.
According to the quoted source, the electric locomotive is intended for the service of railway maneuvering on non-interoperable factory railways for a maximum towed tonnage of 2,500 tons, with a maximum speed of 30 km/h.
The power source is provided by Li-ion batteries that are dimensioned according to the application for which the locomotive is used, having an autonomy between 12 and 24 hours. The batteries are charged from an external source of 3×400 V 50 Hz dimensioned according to the capacity of the batteries, the charging time from 20% to 100% being of about two hours.
