Constanța City Hall has extended the period in which it subsidizes the price of gigacalories for the population, both for hot water and for heat, remaining at the same value of 450 lei until the end of 2023, the municipality informed on Wednesday.

According to a press release sent by Constanța City Hall, the local municipal councilors approved, at the end of last month, the price for the population of the thermal energy provided by the company Termoficare Constanța SRL and of the subsidy granted for the period April 1 – December 31, 2023.

“Until December 31, 2023, the residents of Constanta will pay 450 lei (including VAT) for one gigacalorie, both hot water and heat, and the City Hall of Constanța will subsidize the price of a gigacalorie with 1,351.91 lei (including VAT),” it communicated.

The mayor of Constanta, Vergil Chițac, emphasized that the local administration is currently rehabilitating the heating system, which will lead to an increase in energy efficiency and a reduction in thermal energy costs.

“The poor technical conditions of the network have generated an increase in the gigacalorie price and implicitly the subsidy. After more than 40 years, we are now changing the city’s thermal installation, replacing the old thermal energy transport pipes. The implementation of the infrastructure change process will considerably reduce thermal losses and will lead to the increase of energy efficiency in the entire system and at the same time to the reduction of costs for the delivered thermal energy,” stated Chițac.
