Romania is no longer an attractive market for investors only for its cheap labour force but also for its high quality products, said Cosmin Tabără, Deputy Mayor of Timișoara.
“A few years ago, Romania was attractive for cheap labour, but neither was quality something we could put a high price on. Today, we are talking about quality, about the professional value of people, because Romania has a human resource at the highest level, which can make the most of all these technologies,” explained Tabără, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Timisoara”, organised by Energynomics.
He added that Timisoara stands out as a model of sustainable development and infrastructure investment at national level,
“Timisoara City Hall is perhaps one step ahead of other city halls in the country. As early as 2022, we opened a one-stop shop for those who want to access funds for investment, for efficiency and to keep up with progress,” said the deputy mayor.
One of the local government’s priority projects is to improve the heating system as well as the use of renewable energy. One of the centrepieces of the energy efficiency strategy is street lighting, which is among the city’s biggest energy consumers. The administration has also invested in sustainable public transport, purchasing modern electric buses and trams and implementing charging stations for electric vehicles.
“We have the Colterm project, but also other projects where we plan to use electric panels and to introduce geothermal water heating,” Tabără explained.
The conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Timisoara” was organised by Energynomics, with the support of its partners: ABB, BCR, CRC, Datacor, Elektra Renewable Support, MET Energy Romania, Nofar Energy, Polytrade Global, Volt, WALDEVAR Energy.
