The concept of energy efficiency must be extended beyond the way energy is produced and consumed and must also consider the safety aspect.
“We talk a lot about energy efficiency, focusing a lot on how we produce and consume energy. But we need to extend this area to the safety of buildings. We talk about energy efficiency, but we don’t really talk about safety”, said Cosmin Vajkovszki, CEO of Lapp Romania, at the conference “Digitalization and energy efficiency – Timișoara”, organized by Energynomics.
He added that there is not enough conversation about energy losses in building grids or connection losses, even though they can be important.
Another area where the subject is ignored is the one related to the installed power of a photovoltaic plant. According to Vajkovszki, the discussion about the efficiency of a solar plant should also focus on its power output.
“No one looks at it anymore because there are losses that are included in the invoice and, that’s it, the customer pays. Maybe a solar panel produces enough current, but what is important is how much reaches the network, what are the losses on the cable or on the connection. A connection, using a connector and a connection of a certain type, can result in a loss of only 1%, compared to 2% or 3% in other cases,” he added.
