Renault’s management decided to sell in Europe the adapted version of the Renault K-ZE, under the Dacia brand, to meet the drastic limitations imposed by the European Commission to car manufacturers.
The future Dacia electric car will be launched in the market soon, will have a range of 250 km and will cost around 15,000 euro, according to information published by Automobilwoche, quoted by Profit.ro.
Renault is relying on the fact that it will be able to sell this model at a price of less than 10,000 euro, with all the subsidies granted by some European states, such as Romania.
Olivier Murguet, Renault Group head of sales, told Automobilwoche that the EU’s CO2 limits are very “challenging”. For Dacia cars, which have high CO2 emissions and low prices, which prevent the use of expensive technologies, the only solution is to have more efficient engines. The company considers gas engines and “long-term electromobilty,” says Murguet. Earlier, Gilles Normand, responsible for the development of electric vehicles at Renault, announced that the City KZ-E will arrive in Europe, with improvements in the safety and a new charging standard.
