DAM: Electricity price increases 50% in July compared to June and 48% compared to July 2023

The average closing price of the day-ahead market (DAM, PZU) increased in July by about 50%, expressed in euro, compared to the previous month and by 48.4% compared to July of the previous year, according to the monthly report of the stock exchange operator, OPCOM, consulted by Energynomics.

Thus, against the background of a volume of transactions higher by 25.7% and a value higher by 110.55%, the price of electricity reached the value of 721.7 lei (145 euro) per MWh, by 50.73% higher, expressed in lei, compared to July 2023, and 48.32% higher, expressed in lei, compared to June 2024.

The DAM market share increased in July 2024 by 19%, to 38.6% of the forecasted net consumption, compared to July 2023, and by 15% compared to June 2024.

Also in the intraday market, where the market share is only 3.4%, there were price increases of 43% compared to July 2023, and 44% compared to June 2024.

On the market of bilateral contracts (PCCB-LE-Flex), which has a share of 16.5%, 26 transactions were registered in July, worth almost 110 million euros, at an average price of 106.7 euros/ MWh (546.7 lei).
