By April 1, 2025, it is crucial that the state pays all outstanding payments to suppliers who pre-financed the support scheme to ensure equal conditions of competition with suppliers who were not involved in the application of the ceilings, said Daniela Dărăban, executive director of the Federation of Associations of Energy Utilities Companies (ACUE) on Tuesday.
“There are costs with the imbalances and financial costs that, contrary to the provisions of European legislation, cannot currently be recovered by suppliers. (…) Temporary measures are needed to prevent unjustified price increases in the wholesale market, after the ceiling is exceeded. We proposed a Power Release Program to have visibility on the quantities available for sale on the wholesale market. It is a temporary, transitional solution, which would ensure the necessary liquidity on the wholesale market after April 2025 and thus avoid unwanted price increases for consumers,” said Daniela Dărăban, according to Agerpres.
In her opinion, the move to the free market is essential for the development plans of the energy sector and attracting private investments.
