Existing buildings will be refurbished to become more energy efficient and strengthen electrical circuits as part of global efforts to reduce pollution. At the same time, more and more data centers will start to be built in Eastern Europe, said Gabriel Tache, Country Sales Manager of Eaton Romania.

“Data centers are starting to migrate to Eastern Europe as cities in the West run out of available energy,” he said at the Energy Strategy Summit 2024, organized by Energynomics.

The arguments for such decisions would be that the operators of these facilities are increasingly interested in procuring green energy in large quantities to sustain their operations. Earlier, Tache said that these data centers are at the heart of the transition to digitization, and with the help of technology and artificial intelligence, they will be able to deliver electricity to the grid.

For Eaton, digital transformation is a priority, but Romania is still at an “early stage”. The group is also involved in data center management. Eaton posted a net profit of 2.1 billion dollars in 2021 and annual sales of more than 19 billion dollars. The company has about 85,000 employees in 175 countries.
