The most important professional competition in the field of electricity in Romania, the Electrician’s Trophy, has designated the winners of its 42nd national edition, organized this year by Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER) and held this year in Cluj-Napoca.
Distribuție Energie Energie Electrică Romania (DEER) was the big winner of the competition that brings together the best professional electricians from all over the country, winning the grand prize for Electricity Distribution and the Electrician’s Trophy for the Maintenance category. The Junior Electrician Cup was won by Distribuție Oltenia. 10 Delgaz Grid specialists were awarded one first place, two second places, five third places and two mentions.
The 2024 Electrician’s Trophy was presented to the DEER team, led by Mihaela Rodica Suciu, Managing Director, by the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, who was present at the event, together with over 200 electricians, about 1% of the total number of those who ensure the smooth functioning of the networks in Romania. “In this sector there are the best professionals and the best people. You are the people to whom we owe the fact that, in harsh conditions, the lights come on in our homes. You are specialists and you do your job with professionalism, seriousness and patriotism,” said Sebastian Burduja.
It was the first time since the merger of energy distribution within the Electrica Group that the Electrician’s Trophy was won by DEER. “Thank you to the DEER team and I bow to our specialists, who won most of the competition’s events and made us so proud,” said Mihaela Rodica Suciu, DEER’s Managing Director.
Present at the award ceremony, Mircea Man, Vice President of ANRE, said, “This competition has shown that we have senior and junior professionals to replace the current specialists. We need as many young people as possible in the sector. At ANRE, we are encouraging investment in the distribution system, in storage, in order to meet the challenges.”
A total of 105 specialists from the four electricity distribution operators – DEER, Delgaz Grid, Distribuție Oltenia, Rețele Electrice and Adrem Invest – were in fierce competition in nine sections over three days in Cluj Napoca.

- In the specialty “Electrician operating 110 kV transformer substations and MV from substations” – Distribuție Energie Oltenia
- In the specialty “Electrician operating the electrical distribution network, MV and JV” – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
- In the specialty “Electrician PRAM” – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
- In the specialty “Electrician for electricity measurement, verification of measuring groups” – Distribuție Energie Oltenia
- In the specialty “Electrician for assembling and repairing MV and LV distribution installations (PA, PT, LEA, LES) – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
- In the specialty “Electrician assembling and repairing primary equipment in 110 kV transformer substations and MV substations” – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
- In the specialty “Electrician defectoscopy of MV and LV underground power lines” – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
- For the specialty “Energy Distribution Dispatcher” – Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
The “Youngest finalist” award went to Vesa Daniel (DEER).
The award for “Oldest finalist” went to Amancei Cătălin (DelgazGrid).
Teodorescu Ionuț (Adrem) won the “Youngest competitor” award.
The prize for “The oldest competitor” went to Iacob Ioan (Delgaz Grid).
Alexandru Roman (DEER)c was awarded the prize for the “Longest serving member of the specialized committees”.
The award for “Zero Accidents at Work” in energy installations, since the last edition, has gone to Adrem.
The Electrician’s Trophy was initiated in 1977 and resumed in 1993 by Electrica, a group of which Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania is part. The trophy is part of the series of events dedicated to the Energetician’s Day – July 20, St. Ilie’s Day.
Distribuție Oltenia, part of the Evryo group, has taken the baton and will organize the Electrician’s Trophy 2025, national phase.
