Romania remains one of the most attractive destinations for investments, the largest companies in the country are present in Top 500, registering an average annual revenue growth of 5.3% compared to 0.3% which was the regional average according to this year’s edition of the Deloitte ranking.
The number of Romanian companies present in Deloitte Central Europe Top 500 increased compared to last year from 42 to 46, placing Romania on the fourth place, one position compared to 2014. The total revenues of the companies in Romania increased by almost 7% to 46 billion euros. By comparison, the total revenues of all companies present in the Top 500 fell by 1.8% compared to last year, reaching 682 billion euros. Also, 30 companies went up in the ranking Romanian previous year and 8 new companies entered the ranking, according to Agerpres.
The energy and resources industry contributed the most to Romania’s position in the rankings with a combined income of 18.943 billion euros.
“The place that Romania occupies in the Deloitte Central Europe Top 500 reflects clearly the degree of investor interest and its proper positioning. With a constant micro-economic growth, Romania is among the regional champions in terms of economic growth. It is expected that this trend will continue, but this depends very much on the political, legislative and fiscal stability in the country, which are key elements for the significant development of the economic and business environment, ” said Ahmed Hassan, Country Managing Partner Deloitte Romania.
The ninth edition of the Deloitte Central Europe Top 500 report includes 18 countries from Central Europe and Ukraine (500 companies, 50 banks and 50 insurance companies).
The energy and resources industry contributed the most to Romania’s position in the rankings with a combined income of 18.943 billion euros, followed by the commodity and transport industry with 13.378 billion euros, the manufacturing industry with 9.526 billion euros, the technology, media and telecommunications industry with 2.849 billion euros and the health industry with 1.311 billion euros.
The most spectacular growth was registered by Auchan, which climbed 217 places to position 237, while Enel, Oscar Downstream and Interagro have not entered the rankings this year. In the present, regarding the shaholders of the Romanian companies from the rankings, most are multinational (36) and only three are entities owned by Romanian entrepreneurs.
The ranking of the largest banks and insurance companies show the same number as the previous year: six banks and four insurance companies. With total assets of 51.9 billion euros, the banking sector recorded a slight increase, from 51.1 billion euros a year earlier. The ranking remained the same, with the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) in first place, followed by BRD-Groupe Societe Generale and Banca Transilvania, in the following places.
The top three from the Deloitte rankings remained unchanged from last year. Despite a decline in revenues in euros by 5.5% (in PLN 5.9%), Poland’s PKN Orlen retains its leading position, followed by MOL from Hungary and Škoda Auto from Czech Republic.
