The price of diesel has risen by more than 1% last week at Petrom stations monitored by energynomics.ro in eight major cities of Romania: Bucharest, Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Oradea, Constanta and Craiova. The largest increase was recorded in Oradea, where a liter of standard diesel today costs 5.39 lei, more than 1.5% higher than on January 7th.
However, the most expensive diesel is sold in Brasov (5.47 lei/liter), Bucharest (5.45 lei/liter) and Craiova (5.44 lei/liter).
The average price increase in Petrom’s stations was lower for gasoline (0.65%) over the last week, with a slight decrease (0.59%) at the Cluj-Napoca and rising prices in all the other stations we monitor. The highest increase is recorded in the stations in Iasi (1.2%) and Craiova (1.19%). Constanţa remains the only city among the monitored eight, where the gasoline costs less than 5 lei (4.93).
Since January 1, the prices for car fuels have increased following the entry into force of two normative acts: indexation of excises with the inflation rate, respectively the increase of the mandatory content of biofuels in gasoline and diesel.
Over the last week, crude oil prices in international markets have risen by almost 5% for WTI (51 dollars per barrel, today), and by more than 3% for Brent (59.68 dollars per barrel, today).
In 2019, energynomics.ro will monitor the evolution of prices for gasoline and diesel sold at Petrom stations in eight major cities in Romania: Bucharest, Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Oradea, Constanta and Craiova.
