Distribuție Oltenia inaugurated on Wednesday the 110/20 kV Prundu Transformer Station, in Argeș county, in the presence of the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja. The modernization project of the 110/20 kV Prundu transformer station is part of the strategy of the Oltenia Distribution company to implement an advanced energy distribution management system. The project also involved the modernization of several transformer stations and the installation of smart meters at over 10,000 places of consumption.

The modernization of the 110/20kV Transformer Station is part of the 7 projects financed from European Funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program, axis 6.1/6. It was submitted for approval in December 2019 and has a value of over 77 million lei, of which 82% represents the value of European funds.

Benefits for Distribuție Oltenia consumers:

  • The modernization of the facilities will ensure an increase in the degree of continuity and safety in energy distribution for household consumers and economic agents in the area of application of the project, which includes the municipality of Pitești, the neighborhoods of Prundu, Tudor Vladimirescu, Centru and Craiovei;
  • The integration of the station in the ADMS system (Advanced Distribution Management System) will minimize the duration of interruptions and reduce the cost of operation and maintenance through centralized monitoring and control. There will also be possibilities to make operational decisions in real time;
  • Increasing the degree of continuity and safety in operation for the approximately 11,000 consumers connected to the smart metering system (SMI);
  • Reduction of own technological consumption and average annual energy consumption from 1.48MWh/dwelling in 2018 to 1.41MWh/dwelling in 2027 during the sustainability period of the project.

Through its development strategy, Distribuție Oltenia aims to improve the level of safety in electricity distribution and reduce energy losses, thus supporting the transition to a more efficient and sustainable energy infrastructure.

“Distributie Oltenia’s vision is to become a modern and flexible company, capable of integrating new technologies and, at the same time, serving consumer requirements. We currently have 20 projects with a value of 248.2 million Euro contracted through the “Fund for Modernization” program. Six of these consider the modernization of some transformer stations. Through these projects, we are one step closer to the digitalization of the company, one of the basic pillars of the Oltenia Distribution strategy. The consumer is at the center of our activity, and the investments we plan and make are aimed at ensuring services at high quality standards,” said Ondrej Safar, CEO, Evryo.

The Prundu station supplies the South-Eastern part of Pitesti Municipality, with approximately 13,000 places of consumption (over 25,000 inhabitants), of which smart meters have been installed at over 10,000 places of consumption.
