Enel X installs street, indoor or pedestrian LED street lighting solutions, including remote management and adaptive lighting solutions, said Dorin Chisăliță, Head of eCity Romania, Enel X Romania, during the „Smart Cities – What we can do today” conference, organized by Energynomics.
“The products we use have an advantage – our factory is in Romania. We have global contracts with partners where we supply products. Practically, the products from Romania are supplied in the 28 Enel Group countries where we have such projects. When we talk about public lighting, when we move from an old solution to an LED lighting solution, we make a very big reduction in energy consumption, somewhere between 40% and 60%. Then, we can come up with remote management solutions and adaptive lighting, to streamline and come up with much better energy efficiency solutions, to work with many more types of connectivity and solutions on the remote management side, including adaptive lighting.
“Through remote management, you can plan your system to turn on, to turn off, to follow a certain time interval, when the night traffic is reduced, and the system can turn on cascading, when a pedestrian, a car or a bicycle passes”, he added. Another area is architectural lighting, for the buildings to be made more visible.
At the same time, smart city applications can include remote management for lighting, but also smart traffic lights, video cameras for traffic or any other smart city solution. Using such an app, any citizen can report a fault in the lighting grid. “We facilitate communication between citizens and ATUs [administrative territorial units].”
In addition, Enel X offers energy efficiency solutions for public buildings. “We support customers with photovoltaic panel solutions for self-consumption and energy efficiency in public buildings. We can provide turnkey solutions, or consulting, design and execution or audit for energy solutions. The best approach is using a mix of solutions”.

At the same time, Enel X can cover the entire process of developing an urban public infrastructure, which would include urban furniture for public lighting, USB and car charging ports, Wi-Fi network, and access to public payment and charging sites. Enel X’s public transport solutions can also provide efficient fleet management – currently, a fleet of over 3,200 buses is managed globally.
