Dr Nawaf Salameh, founder of Alexandrion Group and Chairman of the Nawaf Salameh Family Office, passed away at the age of 59, leaving behind a deep void, but also a strong imprint on society and a vision for the future.
Dr Salameh, through the Alexandrion Group, has been a long-standing partner of Energynomics, a supporter of our platform, our mission to connect energy professionals and promote strategic investments in Romania. Discreet, but firm, Nawaf Salameh has understood the role of energy as a vector of development and economic stability, and has been directly involved in building a strong presence in the sector over the past years.
Known to the general public as the head of Romania’s largest spirits and wine producer, Alexandrion Group, Dr Salameh was much more than that. Under the umbrella of the Nawaf Salameh Family Office, he has coordinated complex operations in hospitality, agriculture, real estate, retail, logistics and renewable energy on several continents. All the while, he has maintained a deep connection with Romania, the country he chose to settle in since the 1980s, where he began his professional journey as a medical doctor and where he has invested his resources and passion to build sustainability.
In energy, Nawaf Salameh has bet on photovoltaics, wind power and even green hydrogen, through a network of some 10 companies grouped around Domeniile Salameh SRL. He has launched battery energy storage projects and, most recently, made a major strategic move: the acquisition of the Octogon Gas & Logistics terminal in Constanța – the largest maritime LPG terminal in the country. “This is more than a strategic investment in the energy sector,” he said just a few months ago. “We are laying the foundations for a more diversified energy infrastructure.” His words were not just a statement of intent, but a clear articulation of a long-term vision – a vision that his family will pursue with the same rigour and determination.
Beyond his entrepreneurial profile, Nawaf Salameh was a genuine philanthropist. Through the Alexandrion Foundation, he built bridges between people and causes: cultural, educational, humanitarian. He has honoured Romanian cultural elites through the Constantin Brâncoveanu Gala, supported performance sport through collaborations with the Romanian Olympic Committee and intervened quickly and concretely in times of crisis, from supporting Ukrainian refugees to helping communities affected by natural disasters. In all these gestures, the profound values in which he believed: respect for others, trust in education and solidarity in the face of suffering.
His Christian faith guided him not only in his personal life, but also in the way he conducted his business and relationships. A devoted husband, caring father and generous mentor, Nawaf Salameh raised his family in the spirit of the values that shaped him: integrity, generosity, discretion and belief in the power of good. His family now remains the custodians of this legacy, ready to carry his vision forward with dignity and clarity.
Nawaf Salameh’s disappearance is as unexpected as it is painful. But what remains is significant: a solid business network, future energy projects, cultural institutions that bear the imprint of his generosity, and a large community of people who knew his kindness and steadfastness.
On behalf of Energynomics, we send our sincere condolences to the Salameh family. We remain grateful for their trust and support all these years. His memory will remain alive for all those who believe with us that it is worth working for a space of communication of values, individual initiative and solidarity.
