Romania should adopt a “slightly critical” attitude towards the energy directives coming from Brussels and opt for the solutions at hand, said Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association.

“I don’t think we need to throw it all away and say we’re going somewhere else. We also need a slightly critical approach to the problems, not like now, when we take everything that comes from Brussels at face value,” he said, at the conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to”, organised by Energynomics.

Chisăliță made these statements in the context in which he believes that Romania does not have much time to lose to decide on measures that would ensure its long-term security of energy supply. One of these is hydrogen production.

“I don’t think Romania has the time and that’s why some things need to be tackled with much more speed. Hydrogen doesn’t come from somewhere above, we shouldn’t wait for Brussels to give us some homework and we just sit and implement it. We must not behave as bigots and say that hydrogen changes everything starting from tomorrow . We must understand that hydrogen can complement what we have at the moment and we must continue to fight for what we have and for what is socially, economically and technically established and accepted,” he added.
