E.ON Energie Romania rewards the care of E.ON Drive customers for the environment by afforesting an area of five hectares of degraded land, near Sighișoara. E.ON Drive is the first turnkey solution dedicated to owners of electric cars, residential customers, business or municipalities and was launched in 2019. From the launch of the project until this year at the power stations were charged 130,000 kWh, enough to cover of about 850,000 kilometers, which means a reduction in CO2 emissions by about 120 tons.

“Concerned about a greener and more sustainable future, E.ON Energie Romania has assumed that for every 10 kWh charged through power stations to plant a tree, and to reward with even more green, this month we doubled each planted tree, thus planting 26,000 seedlings of oak, maple and black pine,” say E.ON officials.

Once matured, they will absorb about 90 tons of CO2 and release about 70 tons of oxygen.

“During this period, the COP26 summit is taking place in Glasgow, the largest global meeting dedicated to combating the climate crisis. Beyond the commitments of the states, each of us must come up with solutions and measures in this direction. In this context, I believe that the future belongs to electric cars. This is also shown by our figures, which clearly show that only this year the number of charges at our power stations has doubled compared to last year. We wanted to reward our customers for having the same concern as us, to protect the environment by reducing the CO2 footprint. Therefore, we chose to continue planting in Sighișoara, where a future forest is already emerging. We do not stop here and we will continue to plant a tree for every 10 kWh loaded through E.ON Drive stations,” says Claudia Griech, General Manager of E.ON Energie Romania.

In the afforestation actions in which E.ON has been involved in recent years, about 100,000 seedlings have been planted on an area approaching 20 hectares.
