A study by Eaton shows that Push-in technology is considerably more cost-effective and time-saving. In addition, it is expected that this technology will become the industry standard in the future.
An extensive study by Eaton, in collaboration with Hanseatic Power Solutions (HPS), a manufacturer of switchboards and control systems, and I²PS, an independent testing lab, demonstrated the clear advantages that Push-in technology offers users over conventional solutions of screw or spring terminals. Push-in technology saves time and money at all stages of the panel’s lifecycle.
The constructive solution of the push-in terminals allows the assembly without tools (if rigid conductors or conductors with treated conductor ends are used), ensuring at the same time an increased reliability compared to the existing options in the market.
The advantages of Push-in technology come from the constructive solution developed by Eaton that allows, in the case of rigid connectors or those with treated ends, the connection with one hand, without using any tool. To test the effectiveness of this solution, HPS recorded the time required for its employees to connect 100 terminal points using screw, spring and push-in terminals. The results showed a 50% time saving of Push-in technology compared to screw connections and 40% compared to spring connections.
“We are pleased that the results of this study confirm what we already knew, namely that Push-in technology is the technology of the future. It is amazing that we have managed to produce this terminal system that is safer than the ones in the market at the moment, but at the same time more economical and easier to install. The benefits for companies are obvious and I have no doubt that Push-in technology will become the standard for the industry in a short time,” said Gabriel Tache, General Manager of Eaton Electric Romania.
Eaton expects Push-in terminals to replace spring terminals in a few years, taking over the market share from screw terminals.
