The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, comes to Bucharest on Monday, during the NextGenerationEU series of visits.
The head of the EC will meet with President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Florin Cîţu.
At 16.00, Ursula von der Leyen will be received at the Cotroceni Palace by the head of state, and at 16.50 she will have a meeting with the Prime Minister Florin Cîţu, at the Victoria Palace.
Subsequently, the three officials will visit the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital, which would benefit from funds from the NextGenerationEU program, and will hold a joint press conference.
The main purpose of the EC President’s visit is to present the evaluation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
“For Romania, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan is not only the document based on which we will be able to benefit from an allocation of 29.2 billion euros, but also the guarantee that investments and reforms will be the coordinates of the coming years. Romania joins, as is natural, the objectives that characterize the developed economies: modernization of transport and medical infrastructure, green economy, digitalization. I appreciate the collaboration with our European partners for finalizing the PNRR. The government is ready to attract the funds that Romania will benefit from and is determined to implement the reform programs,” Florin Cîţu declared on Friday, according to Agerpres.
