Romania ranked 28th in the European Innovation Scoreboard 2018, its score being 14 percentage points lower than in 2010, while most businesses in the country have a low level of environmental awareness, says the Country Report on the EU Environmental Policy Implementation (EIR) assessment for 2019, drafted by the European Commission (EC).
At the same time, the data included in the document reveals that in the Eco-innovation Scoreboard, Romania ranks 23rd with 65 points, well below the EU-28 general average score.
“Romania has steadily underperforming in eco-innovation results, since 2010. Romania’s regulatory, political and financial framework seems to be one of the biggest obstacles to businesses when introducing eco-innovation activities and bringing improvements”, reads EIR 2019, according to Agerpres.
Regarding the contribution of enterprises to the environment, the data of the European Commission emphasize that the majority of Romanian entities have a low level of awareness of this aspect.
