Digitization and energy efficiency are needs based on the current paradigm of energy engineering, which focuses on meeting the customer’s needs, but with important focus also on the minimum environmental impact and material consumption, said Prof. Dr Eden Mamut, from Ovidius University in Constanta, at the conference on digitalization and energy efficiency in Constanța, organized by Energynomics. At present, the university has projects worth about 16 million lei.
“In Constanta, there was a technology model that was natural in the Europe of the 1980 years. From that generation, unfortunately, investments have been made in several stages and with small sums. On the other hand, today in the European Union, technologies in this area are incomparably better developed, they require flexibility, connections are made to different types of renewable sources and, finally, efficiency is ensured throughout the chain”, said Eden Mamut.
“In the projects carried out so far, we started from digital technologies related to decision support systems, which would provide the basis for decision-making in various projects in Constanta. We have been implementing IoT technologies for several years and we have some ongoing projects in this area. These technologies have different complexities – they range from sensor systems to complex digital systems. We have managed to achieve, in our partnerships with the City Hall and RADET Constanta integrated digital platforms and even digital robots,” Eden Mamut said, outlining the projects that have been carried out.
Ovidius University will also acquire a data center that will become a cloud-type infrastructure and will be made available to partners in Constanta to develop projects.
“Companies in Constanta don’t have to worry whether they have servers, computing infrastructure or invest for them in order to implement certain digital solutions. Through the cloud we are developing in Constanta we will have the ability to provide both processing and storage capacity for various types of activities,” he said.

The university is also involved in alternative projects for the use of renewable solutions. One of the projects involves a partnership with nine companies through which multiple technologies are to be deployed in the area Faleză Nord.
The conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – the 5th year – Constanța” was organized by Energynomics, with the support of our partners Kawasaki Gas Turbines Europe, Wiren Energy.
