EFdeN is among the teams selected for the 2021 edition of Solar Decathlon Europe, which will take place in Wuppertal, Germany. The association is one of 18 teams from 11 participating countries. A multidisciplinary team of students from Romania will compete with a new solar home project that will be developed over the next 2 years.
The EFdeN team achieves a unique performance by qualifying for the 2021 edition of Solar Decathlon, the most prestigious international competition for sustainable housing, after the 2014 participation in Versailles, with the project “EFdeN 4C” and in 2018, in Dubai, with the project ” EFdeN Signature.” EFdeN is the only Romanian team qualified in three Solar Decathlon editions.
The teams qualified in the 2021 competition were selected by an international jury, based on project proposals developed in the second part of 2019. Each proposal entered in the competition had several topics to cover: concept, management plan, funding strategy and integration into the university curriculum.
“Through EFdeN’s performance, Romania proves to be among the few countries in the world that are able to think, design and build sustainable housing at the most demanding international standards. The burden is only just beginning, but EFdeN has already shown in the past a lot of maturity and ambition, and the results from previous editions we attended were remarkable,” said Mihai Zecheru, SDE2021 Head, EFdeN.
