The European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a new guarantee agreement with Raiffeisen Bank within the Recovery and Resilience Fund. The agreement allows Raiffeisen Bank Romania to mobilize EUR 250 million for the financing of medium-large investment projects, especially in the fields of climate action and digitalization.

The EIB guarantees have a total value of 98 million euros and are granted to three Romanian banks, which can thus support large companies in Romania, but also medium-sized companies and municipalities with a population of up to 100,000 inhabitants to start investments for climate action and digital transformation. The guarantees allow the partner banks to offer more favorable financing conditions, for a volume of new loans of up to 750 million euros.

“This new agreement marks an important moment in our long-standing partnership with the European Investment Bank. In the almost 15 years of partnership, we have successfully channeled more than 1 billion euros into projects that improve access to finance for SMEs, strengthening their resilience, increasing their competitiveness and supporting them on their way to a sustainable future. Large corporations play an important role in driving and multiplying investment in the economy through the close links with the small and medium-sized enterprises with which they interact along the value chains, and through this new agreement with the EIB we aim to facilitate investments essential for competitiveness and the sustainability of the Romanian economy, with a special focus on climate actions and digital development,” says Alina Rus, Vice President & CFO, Raiffeisen Bank Romania.

Raiffeisen Bank has over 2.2 million customers, individuals and legal entities.
