The Free Independent Trade Union within the Bucharest Electrocentrale Branch requests the authorities to grant a considerable amount from the Government’s emergency fund for the centralized heating system of the Municipality of Bucharest, this being, according to the trade unionists, one of the solutions by which Elcen can be saved from bankruptcy.

Another solution proposed by them is the approval, by the Ministry of Finance, of a loan for Bucharest City Hall, necessary to cover the debts accumulated by the Municipal Thermal Energy Company to the thermal energy producer.

The union sent a Memorandum to the leaders of the governing coalition – the PSD president, Marcel Ciolacu, the PNL president, Nicolae Ciucă, and the UDMR president, Kelemen Hunor – and to the mayor of Bucharest, Nicuşor Dan, drawing attention to the serious economic problems facing the Electrocentrale Bucharest and its employees.

“The union proposes two solutions to save Elcen from bankruptcy: the approval by the Ministry of Public Finance of a loan to Bucharest City Hall to cover the debts accumulated by Compania Municipală Termoenergetica to the thermal energy producer, Electrocentrale Bucureşti SA; granting a considerable amount from the emergency fund of the Government for the centralized heating system of the Municipality of Bucharest. The Free Independent Trade Union from the Bucharest Electrocentrale Branch is open to collaboration with the representatives of the management of Electrocentrale Bucharest. If the mentioned solutions are not implemented, there may be the possibility of major conflicts breaking out, on the verge of winter, with the implicit impact of the entire population of the Municipality of Bucharest,” stresses the source quoted by Agerpres.
