ELCEN’s profit up 83% to 36 million euro in H1

Electrocentrale Bucuresti S.A. (ELCEN) company, insolvent since October 2016, recorded in the first six months of 2017 a 165 million lei (36 million euros) gross operational profit from power and heat generation, 83% more than in the first half of 2016, when the gross operating profit from the production of thermal and electric energy was 90 million lei.

The maintenance and repair activities for 2017 were started and they were funded so that the plants would be ready to work optimally in maximum safety conditions in the winter of 2017-2018, announced the company.

At the same time, Electrocentrale București S.A. has obtained a final favorable decision pronounced by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, throughout which ELCEN’s “captive consumer” status was acknowledged in the relationship with its natural gas supplier SNGN Romgaz S.A. Medias. “In this context, the conditions that Electrocentrale Bucuresti will supply heating to RADET Bucuresti at quality parameters requested by the latter, were created, for the benefit of people Bucharest, during the winter 2017 – 2018”, say the ELCEN officials.

In 2016, ELCEN reported a net profit of 36,8 million lei, a 34,2% weaker performance than in 2016, amid a slight increase in turnover (2%), at 1,546 billion lei.
