The price of electricity on the spot market of the OPCOM stock exchange returned on Monday to more than 200 lei per MWh, after trading with for 0,01 RON on Wednesday in most of the time slots of the day, according to the data of the operator.
This was because the consumption was very small (about 6,000 MW) on Wednesday, May 1, a legally free day, and this overlapped with a large wind power (2,500 MW), which is the cheapest, writes Agerpres.
As a result of the low price in the Romanian market, the country exported constant energy on Wednesday, reaching over 1,300 MW in the evening.
On Thursday, however, the spot market price averages 229 lei per MWh and a maximum of 345 lei between 20:00 and 21:00.
The national consumption was 6.978 MW at 11:10 and the production was 7,028 MW, the difference being exported, according to the information provided by Transelectrica.
Hydro power is the first with 40% of production, followed by coal (20%), nuclear (19%), photovoltaic (10.3%), hydrocarbon (6.7%), wind (1.8%) and biomass (0.8%).
