Online retailer eMag is investing 90 million euro in a new 130,000 sqm logistics center, located at kilometer 19 of the A1 Motorway.
Construction works will start in August and will be completed in September next year, and by July 2022 all automations and technologies will be operational.
“Investment in technology for logistics infrastructure will contribute massively to increasing productivity, which will lead to better prices for customers. If until now employees were going to take products off the shelf, with the help of new technology – a revolutionary picking system that will generate 4 times higher productivity – the goods will automatically reach the employee. Also, multiple orders will be merged into a single package, leading to a decrease in the volume and consumption of cardboard required for the packaging of each product. Delivery speed will increase because the order preparation time will be reduced from the time of placement to the time of delivery to the courier. In addition, the large storage capacity of the new warehouse will increase the range of products in categories such as fashion or consumer goods, beverages and food,” the company said, according to Agerpres.
According to the quoted source, in the design and construction the care for the environment and the community was taken into account, and the new deposit will be supplied with green energy by 40,000 sqm of solar panels, while trees will be planted on an area of 100,000 sqm.
“In order to further stimulate the development of the area related to this logistics project, the local and central authorities are analyzing the establishment of an industrial park, thus attracting new investors in the area, together with eMag,” notes the retailer.
