Cluj-Napoca will have its first publicly voted Digital Transformation Strategy, said Emilia Botezan, Head of External Relations and Investors, at Cluj-Napoca City Hall, at the first in-person conference organized by Energynomics this year as part of its 5-years communication campaign “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency”.
“The Municipality of Cluj-Napoca will be the first city to have its publicly adopted, i.e. voted by the City Council, Digital Transformation Strategy. The answer to the Digital Transformation Strategy is how to connect, how to integrate what exists and how to address the digitalization issue from the point of view of the user, not from the perspective of the institution,” Emilia Botezan said. With respect to the citizen, many strategies are not thought of from a user’s point of view.
Then, the Integrated Urban Development Strategy aims to make the city citizen-friendly. “We want to make a city with many pedestrian paths, Velo routes, at the expense of cars… Our ambition is to have the entire transport fleet electric by 2028 to reduce the city’s pollutant emissions,” she said.
“We must consider, as a local administration, the increase of the level of trust, and this is done, at Cluj City Hall, through meetings with those targeted by public policies. We have an IT Consulting Council and all the policies for the environment and resilience. It would be good to have such a component on the energy subject matters as well,” Emilia Botezan added.
In addition, Cluj has become a laboratory city, and meetings with private companies have led to the presentation of energy efficiency solutions; thus the city can become an energy producer, she said.
