Around 20 million euros will be investd in Giurgiu County between 2019 and 2022, and approximately two hundred jobs will be created because of the workings on the Romania-Bulgaria gas pipeline, the Minister of Energy Toma Petcu said at Giurgiu.

“What is important for our county is that we were able to come up with about 20 million euros in investments, for the period 2019-2022, in an important project that was approved by the European Commission and is 60% funded by Transgaz – a state-owned company, and 40% with European funds. It is an important and vital project for all Romania, not only for Giurgiu, but nearly 20% of this project is located in the Giurgiu county. This is BRUA pipeline, an interconnector between Romania-Bulgaria-Hungary-Austria, so that, for the first time, Romania will have a direct connection with Austria, which is the main player in the gas market in Europe,” energy minister said, quoted by Agerpres.

He said that he had the “obligation” that, as a deputy elected by citizens, and as a minister, to do as much as possible for the county, as he intends to go back to Giurgiu, at the end of his mandate.

“Two hundred jobs will be created for the period of investment that will run for almost three years and after completion there will be 20 permanent jobs,” the energy minister added. The official said that “by the effort of the entire ministry team” the building permit for this project was issued, a document which “had to be issued by the end of May, otherwise we would have lost a European project with a funding of about 400 millions of euros”.
