Ministry of Energy has big plans for 2016. A prime objective is the completion of the National Energy Strategy until late September, according to a ministry document.
In terms of internal processes, the ministry continues preparing for two IPOs that are long in the making: Hidroelectrica and CE Oltenia. By October, preparations should be completed, shows the ministry program.
Assuming an active role of the state in companies with minority holdings and initiating a consistent dialogue with the business community to support initiatives in energy policy are two more goals that have been set by the ministry leaders.
On the ministry agenda there is mentioning of encouraging power and gas network interconnections with neighbors, defining vulnerable consumers, increasing access to finance for firms, trading gas on exchanges and Romania’s activism when it comes to EU sectoral policies.
By March, the ministry will conduct a diagnosis of the energy system from production and transport, to distribution and supply. By July-August, according to the schedule assumed, will be analyzed the prospects of building Tarniţa-Lăpuşteşti hydro power plant, Units 3 and 4 at Cernavodă, Romania-Turkey power submarine cable and a new energy group at Rovinari.
