The Austrian company Enery Development GmbH has finalised the largest photovoltaic park completed with funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, a project with an installed capacity of 51.4 MW and battery storage (22 MWh), worth 52.4 million euros, of which the non-reimbursable contribution granted by the Ministry of Energy through the NRRP is 13.68 million euros.

The ceremony was attended by Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, who spoke about the project, which “responds to the current challenges in the energy sector – not only production, but also battery storage”. “Such investments are a general benefit for consumers and for the Romanian state, because they take us step by step towards our goal: secure energy, affordable energy for everyone and green energy,” said Minister Burduja.

He added that in total, there are nearly 300 contracts signed for 1,800 MW in new green energy generation capacity for the power system, and pointed out that projects that included storage capacity were given a bonus in the grid and prioritised.

Sebastian Burduja recalled that private investors have 13 billion euros in non-reimbursable funds at their disposal, which will contribute to the introduction of over 10,000 MW of new green energy for Romania: 1,800 MW from the NRRP (private production), 3. 000 MW from the Modernization Fund (private production and self-consumption), 1,000 MW from FM (self-consumption by public institutions), 730 MW from CE Oltenia projects (photovoltaic parks), 5,000 MW from the CfD mechanism from the Modernization Fund (3 billion euros for solar and wind), 100 MW from the Electric-Up programme (SMEs and HoReCa).

The opening event of the photovoltaic park Sărmășag was attended by the management team of Enery Development GmbH – Richard König, founder and CEO, and Lukas Nemec, founder and COO -, representatives of the companies involved in the development, construction and operation of the project, as well as senior representatives of the Chamber of Deputies, ANRE and local authorities.
