ENGIE announces the signing of the agreement for the acquisition of a wind farm, majority owned by the EnerCap Group, in Chirnogeni, Constanța County, an area known for its favorable wind conditions.
The Chirnogeni wind farm has a total installed capacity of 80 MWp, and the estimated annual net production is approximately 180 GWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 90,000 households.
ENGIE Romania already owns and operates 2 other wind farms in Brăila and Galați counties, which have a total installed capacity of 98 MW. With this acquisition, the company will almost double its existing green energy production capacity and will contribute, together with the solar energy assets, to the acceleration of the energy transition in Romania.
“The acquisition of the Chirnogeni wind farm marks an important step in ENGIE’s progress in the field of renewable energy in Romania. At the same time, this investment strengthens the company’s presence in the green energy sector and makes an essential contribution to achieving the assumed goals of having an installed renewable energy production capacity of 1,000 MW by 2030. With each such initiative, we support our commitment towards a sustainable and efficient energy future”, said Cristian Buzan, deputy general director, ENGIE Romania.
Completion of the transaction is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2024, subject to obtaining certain approvals, including from competition authorities.
