ENGIE Romania supports the first line healthcare professionals and patients affected by the SARS-COV-2 virus with a financial contribution of 250,000 euro, which will be directed to several organizations: Romanian National Red Cross Society, Dăruiește Viață and HOSPICE Casa Speranței, the company announced.

The funds directed to the National Red Cross Society of Romania and Dăruiește Viață, in the amount of 100,000 euro each, will be used for the purchase of equipment for medical professionals, as well as ventilation devices or materials of strict necessity to patients confirmed with COVID-19.

Other 50,000 euro are allocated for the care of patients with oncological diseases, discharged from hospitals intended exclusively for patients with COVID-19 and for which HOSPICE Casa Speranței remains an alternative for the continuation of treatment, whose lack would otherwise endanger their lives.

“Solidarity is very important, especially in critical periods such as this one which we are currently experiencing. We thank all those who are in the front line today and help us all to overcome this difficult challenge. We can do little alone, much more together,” said Eric Stab, President and CEO of ENGIE Romania.

Through this contribution, the company reaffirms its support for improving the conditions of the Romanian medical system. Since 2013, the company has invested 1,350,000 euro in health projects, contributing to improving the medical treatment conditions for about 10,000 patients annually. Together with the NGO Dăruiește Viață, ENGIE Romania has contributed to the construction of the first oncopediatrics hospital for children in the Marie Curie hospital in Bucharest, the modernization and rehabilitation of in-depth diagnostic laboratories for blood cancers within the Fundeni Clinical Institute, as well as the equipment of ventilation of the Hospital of Pneumophysiology in Constanta, the Clinical Children’s Hospital Brasov, the Institute of Pneumophysiology “Marius Nasta” and the Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children “Grigore Alexandrescu”.

Also, ENGIE Romania has renovated and ensured energy efficiency measures for the HOSPICE Casa Speranței center in Brasov, where over 2,000 children and adults receive free palliative care services every year. In the past, ENGIE Romania collaborated punctually with the National Red Cross Society of Romania, carrying out humanitarian support actions in the aftermath of natural disasters.
