Didier Holleaux, Engie’s deputy general manager, said on Tuesday that he was worried that current natural gas prices could continue in the near future, as the level of gas storage capacity in Europe was not very high, Reuters reports.

“We are concerned that the gas shortage we are seeing now keeps prices high and our customers could be affected,” official Engie told reporters on the sidelines of the Gastech conference in Dubai.

European reference gas prices have risen by about 250% this year due to low stocks, high demand in Asia and disruptions, which has also led to rising wholesale electricity costs.
