Romania ranks among the EU countries least dependent on oil imports, with a share of 61% of net imports in oil consumption, shows data for 2017 published by Eurostat.
A dependence on oil imports lower than Romania was registered in the United Kingdom, where net imports accounted for 35% of oil consumption, while Denmark is the country where the rate of dependence on oil imports is negative (minus 4% ).
At the opposite end, the most dependent Member States on oil imports are Estonia, with a dependency rate of 115%, Malta (104%), Slovenia (103%) and Bulgaria (102%), according to Agerpres.
As for the European Union, in 2017 the Community block was dependent on imports for 87% of its oil consumption.
