Eurowind Energy and Autoliv, a global leader in automotive safety systems, have signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in Romania.
Through this partnership, Autoliv is taking an important step towards its goal of fully powering its operations with energy from renewable sources. The new Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) directly contributes to achieving the company’s climate targets.
“The project marks a key moment in our decarbonization process and strengthens Autoliv’s position as a leader in sustainability in the automotive industry. With this initiative, we support our ability to deliver sustainable products to our customers and accelerate progress towards achieving climate goals for our operations in Europe,” said Magnus Jarlegren, President of Autoliv Europe.
For Eurowind Energy, the agreement demonstrates that PPA partnerships are not only an effective tool for reducing its carbon footprint, but also an essential component of its business strategy, based on the development of renewable energy parks at European level.
“This type of agreement is fundamental in the development of new green energy parks. Collaborations with large and ambitious companies, such as Autoliv, directly contribute to the expansion of the park network and to building a cleaner future for all,” emphasized Jesper Schaumburg-Düring, Commercial Director of Eurowind Energy.
The agreement aims to deliver green electricity, for 12 years, from the Pecineaga wind farm, Constanța County, with an installed capacity of 48 MW. Once completed, the park will generate approximately 176,000 MWh annually – the equivalent of the electricity consumption of approximately 48,000 households. The park is expected to become operational in 2027.
