2024: Defining Year for the Romanian Renewables Industry

11 Mar 2024 @ 09:00 - 17:00

On Monday, 11 March 2024,  at Grand Hotel Bucharest (former Intercontinental), Ronda Hall, Energynomics organizes a meeting to scrutinize the investment climate and projects for green transition in Romania!

In 2024, Romania’s renewables industry stands at a crossroads, with many projects at a critical phase. Our conference is dedicated to exploring the factors that will determine whether it’s a BOOM or BUST year for renewables.

Throughout the day we will provide an overview of the latest market developments, and share best practices in EPC, O&M, and Asset Management while discovering emerging technologies and trends.

Access is allowed based on a €50 + VAT admission ticket.

CONTEXT

The Romanian renewables sector faces a myriad of challenges that demand careful consideration and innovative solutions. Firstly, the industry grapples with regulatory uncertainties, often changing the rules of the game. Navigating through evolving policies, especially in areas like Contracts for Difference (CFD) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), requires adaptability and a keen understanding of the shifting legal landscape. The ability to strike a balance between attracting investments and ensuring fair returns for renewable projects is a delicate task that industry professionals must address.

Secondly, the offshore wind potential in the Black Sea presents both promise and complexity. While offshore wind can be a game-changer in Romania’s energy mix, its development poses environmental and logistical challenges. Mitigating the impact on marine ecosystems and harnessing the wind’s energy efficiently are paramount concerns. Additionally, securing investments for these ambitious offshore projects in a competitive global market remains a challenge.

Compliance with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) 3 of the European Union is another pressing issue. Meeting the stringent standards and timelines set by RED 3 demands significant investments in technology and infrastructure. This directive shapes the future of renewables across Europe, and Romania must rise to the occasion to ensure its place in the sustainable energy transition.
These challenges, while formidable, also present opportunities for innovation and growth. Our March 11 conference aims to dissect these issues and foster meaningful discussions to chart a resilient path for the Romanian renewables industry.
